Getting more young people on to apprenticeship schemes was an election priority in 2019.
Matt Vickers MP has used this National Apprenticeship Week to promote the scheme and champion those that chose the scheme as a post-16 education.
The MP vowed to promote business and enterprise in Stockton South, with the aim of getting more of our young people onto Apprenticeship schemes to learn vital practical skills.
The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2024 is “Skills for Life", encouraging everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to develop a workforce with future ready skills.
Matt Vickers MP said:
"This year's theme is 'Skills for Life' where we are encouraging everyone to consider the benefits of apprenticeships on skill and knowledge acquisition.
Back in 2019 when I was campaigning to be Member of Parliament for Stockton South, I pledged to do everything I could to promote business and enterprise in Stockton South. I knew that apprenticeships were the key to unlocking the much-needed investment in our area to make that pledge a reality.
And it is paying off. We are now seeing thousands of jobs and millions in investment here in Stockton and the wider Teesside area, including at Teesworks and the business park off of the A67."
