Matt met with Blondie Bakery at her café in Norton, fresh from her appearance on Gordan Ramsey’s ‘Future Food Stars’.
Amy created her small business, Blondie Bakery, in 2018 during the pandemic.
Since then, the brand has gone from strength to strength, and what began with postal orders and being sold on stalls in other stores, has now become an establishment in its own right.
Amy decided to open the bakery after she returned from her stint on ‘Future Food Stars’, knowing that she had been unsuccessful in securing financial support.
Amy’s business has been hugely supported by the community in Norton, and she credits her regular customers for her success.
Found at 6 Norton High Street, ‘Blondie Bakery’ has been tastefully refitted and decorated by Amy, with a striking blue exterior.
Speaking after the visit, Matt Vickers said:
“It’s always great to see a local independent business thriving, and Amy’s likability just tops it off.
“Amy’s hard work, dedication and passion has allowed her to sail through the entire project with ease and is a real inspiration to any budding Teesside entrepreneurs.
“Although her recent TV appearance may not have had the desired outcome, Amy got back up, brushed herself off, and got straight back to work.
“As a Conservative, and in my role of Chairman for the APPG on Future of Retail, this is really positive to see. The re-emergence of small businesses lining our high streets is a sign of our economy bouncing back after a tough few years.
“The café’s community status is a symbol of a strong Teesside economy, and the blondies aren’t bad either!”
