The Minister for International Trade, Nigel Huddleston, was invited by Matt Vickers MP to visit Eaglescliffe Industrial Estate on Friday (7 April).
Nigel Huddleston and Matt Vickers visited Carol Meynell, a Teesside manufacturer producing specialist transformers and equipment, which are shipped all over the world.
The Eaglescliffe Industrial Estate is home to several innovative manufacturers and producers of sought after technologies, attracting global business to Teesside.
The Minister was impressed by Stockton South’s diversity in manufacturers and technology, and believes Stockton South is “lucky” to have such a wide range to offer globally.
After the visit, Matt Vickers MP said: “I am proud to have been able to share the global innovation which is taking place in Stockton South with the minister.
“Teesside has long led the way with a rich history of manufacturing, innovation and production.
“We pass these industrial factories and buildings every day, but very rarely would you know what was going on inside. Visits like these help us to share their trailblazing work, and I am so pleased that they are getting their rightful recognition.
“Thank you to Nigel for taking time to come and visit, and I would like to also extend my thanks to the engineering team for showing us around the manufacturer.”
The Eaglescliffe Industrial Estate will also benefit from some of the £20 million Levelling Up funding for Eaglescliffe and Yarm, with a new cycle path linking it to Hartburn, Yarm and Eaglescliffe and the new £15 million improvements to Eaglescliffe station will go further to improve accessibility to the business park, hooking it up with the rest of the country by train.
