Matt Vickers MP had a full week of hosting duties, welcoming local residents, supporters and Councillors, and the community from Farooq E Azam Mosque and Islamic Centre to Parliament.
The groups experienced tours of the full Parliament estate, guided by Matt and his Westminster team. They learnt about the history of the buildings and how the political system came to be as we know it today.
The group of residents were also able to tour No.10, where they saw inside the inner workings of the Government and PM’s past.
The Mosque community were able to meet with Paul Bristow MP, who spoke with them on human rights and his role as co-Chair of the APPG on British Muslims.
The group was led by local councillors, Sufi and Shakeel, who presented Paul Bristow with a letter from the Mosque.
Matt Vickers MP said:
“I’m always proud to show that my community is so politically engaged.
“It’s brilliant to be able to welcome residents from my patch down to Westminster, to see where I spend part of my time, meet some of my colleagues and see the cogs whirring inside of the estate.
“It is important that, as part of my responsibility as MP, I use my platform to project different members of our community to speak on issues they feel passionately about.
“I look forward to welcoming new groups to Parliament in the future.”
