Yesterday (Thursday 28 September) Matt Vickers joined Stockton Sea Cadets in Thornaby for their annual Royal Navy Inspection.
Every year a Royal Navy inspection takes place to ensure the local unit is operating safely and correctly.
The Royal Navy has strict guidelines for training and activities to ensure the Sea Cadets remains a safe and educational environment for local young people.
The cadets took part in evolutions, to demonstrate the skills they had learnt through participating in activities over the past year.
They will be judged by Royal Navy Officers, who will give them a national status which ranks the local unit against those across the country.
After the inspection, Matt Vickers MP said:
“It is obvious Stockton Sea Cadets are incredibly beneficial to our young people.
“The activities boost confidence and teach transferable life skills which will aid the Cadets throughout their education and careers. I was particularly impressed to learn about the official qualifications the members can gain.
“The Cadets demonstrated pride, presenting their uniforms, and showed great discipline through their attendance records.
“Good luck to Stockton Sea Cadets with their inspection results, which will be known next month, and thank you for welcoming me down to your cracking hut.”
