Matt Vickers MP has branded Taylor Wimpy a ‘dodgy developer’ after the mismanagement of their development in Kirklevington threatened to flood neighbouring properties and caused tankers to be driven through the village 24/7.
Taylor Wimpey’s Oaklands development at Kirklevington, which will see 97 new homes built, recently saw the builder forced to run tankers through the village at all hours to prevent flooding from a suds pond.
Taylor Wimpey had been caught out by the wet weather and had failed to put a pumping station and connection in place. This put neighbouring properties at risk of flooding.
The MP met with the developer again and asked them to look at an alternative route into their site which would save all the construction traffic travelling through the narrow village streets but the idea was shut down by Taylor Wimpey, who said they have “no interest” in the alternative access.
Local MP Matt Vickers said:
“Taylor Wimpey are a dodgy developer who are acting in an entirely irresponsible manner causing unnecessary misery to residents.
“They owe residents of Kirklevington an apology and should be adopting the alternate access. It’s clear that Taylor Wimpey will always put profit before people and have no interest in minimising the disruption and misery they cause to others.
“I would urge people to think twice before buying a home from Taylor Wimpey. We've heard from people who’ve parted with their life savings to buy a house, only to be disappointed by the quality of the property and aftercare. The fact their home building practices created a flood risk to neighbouring properties gives you an insight into their professionalism and questionable practices”.
